I need to do more Xmas Cards…

, , ,

Hi Jenny here.

Christmas is just about here and I remember saying to myself very early in the year that I would have all my Christmas card ready to be sent by December the 1st. Hah! Did I jinx myself or what? This year has flown by even faster than the last. Consequently, the Christmas cards – well most of them, still need doing.

Die'sire - Reindeer Dance & Penny Black - FiligreesThis is my latest Christmas stepper card.

Every year I choose just a few things to add to my Christmas collection of dies & stamps. (I would love to get everything as I am sure you would too but I would need a bigger craft room… house… mmm.. enormous shed!!) My favourite stamp set this year is Penny Black – Filigrees. The tree, gold embossed swirl & greeting were from this set. Favourite die is Die’sire Reindeer Dance.  I have also used: Bazzill-white canvas cardstock, antique gold cardstock, Kaisercraft pattern paper from 25th December paper pad, seam binding ribbon: Lipstick Red, red binding ribbon, Cuttlebug: snowflake embossing folder, antique-gold embossing powder, Kaisercraft rhinestones, Tsukineko VersaMagic Midnight Black.

Tip/Helpful Note:  Whenever I am using a new clear stamp set I will use Tsukineko VersaMagic, VersaColor or Brilliance. These ink-pads I have found to be more creamy than watery. They cling more evenly to the clear stamp and transfer to my paper without the ink pulling itself into “puddles”. They are also great when I am stuck for a colour in embossing powders. Stamp with these inks then add your clear embossing powder. After stamping a few times with these inks I can then stamp nicely with my Ranger Distress Inkpads and others.

Christmas Past

, ,

For most of us in South Australia the Christmas Pageant means Santa has come to town and it’s time to pull out the old Christmas Tree and dust off the baubles. For me it also means pulling out hand-made Christmas Cards from previous Christmases.A Gorjuss Xmas Card rec'd-w'markedI really do like Gorjuss Girl and I thought I would share this one with you all. I hope she sees it and it brings back fond memories.

What do you do with the hand-made cards given to you?

Baby is turning One!!

, , , , ,

I am glad I thought about making the card when I did. Where did the month go? But at least I have made one before the big day. I do hope you like it.Laugh, Giggle, turning #1 I went for using Maja Designs – Vintage Baby: New Arrival & Cherish for my pattern papers. Stamps: Whipper Snapper Designs – Rockin’ Teddy & Hero Arts – Anytime Message. Dies: Cheery Lynn Designs – Pair of Ferns, Spellbinders – Labels 3, Die-Namics Stax – Fishtail Flags. The base card, ferns & tags are Bazzill – white canvas, whilst the flower is by Kaisercraft. Adhesive: Helmar – SuperTac

The teddy on the rocking horse just brought smiles to my face everytime I looked at it alone with the thought of my niece with her smiley face. Colouring with my water-pencils was a joy. And although I used the stamp packaging as a starting point for the colouring I did some test-runs with my pencils to colour match with the pattern papers tones. Along the edges where I have distressed and inked them I have actually used two inks to achieve a similar outline colour as the pattern paper. VersaMagic: Midnight Black and Jumbo Java. The result is more of a deep charcoal brown, which also matches in with the teddy. Double inking on the words Laugh & Giggle was also done.

My flower has been bedazzled with Stickles – Diamond; though I thought StarDust also went well. (That test is hidden under my die-cut) The pink tinge is a bit of water-pencil applied first, lightly.

I couldn’t find my chipboard alphabet & numbers. (I know they are somewhere safe after an emergency “i need it now for tonight” rush to a friends place) So instead I covered a button and stamped “1” on it with a clear stamp out of the Hero Art set. If you haven’t covered buttons before I have put together a quick to follow chart for you.Vintage Baby - covering button

Also, Maja Designs paper is lovely and thick for doing off-the-page projects, cut-outs etc, but for covering buttons it is a bit thick. So apply a bit of water to where the sides of the button are going to be and give a few moments before folding up the sides. If when you are doing the final press down and the edges won’t stay down because of the paper (or cardstock) is stiff; then use a bit extra of Super-Tac. If you use water it will take to long to dry.

Hope this gives you some inspiration to try for your own cards.

Baby on the way? Or a baby turning One!!

Need to make a card, invites or a scrapbook page or two?

Hi Jenny here.

My little niece is coming up to One year old. Wow!! Has this year gone by fast. If I don’t start now her party will be here and Auntie Jenny will be disgraced for not having a hand-made card for her. Hence, I need a card for the special event. Next question. What papers, stamps, embellishments might I use? Baby Craft Supply Ideas

Whipper Snapper Designs have some cute, loveable stamps. Maja Designs-Vintage Baby has caught my eye and if I need words or saying then I found Gina Marie Stamps – New Baby. It has you covered from One baby, Twins, Triplets and even adopting! Plus they are clear stamps for easy placement/alignment. Embellishments for the card or scrapbooking the event… ScrapFx chipboard. I can leave them plain, paint, emboss, deep emboss, glitter-up or add texture. Mmmm… the ideas are starting to flow.

Check back soon to see what I come up with.  Night.
