Love Is In The Air

Only a couple of more weeks and it will be Valentine’s Day.  It’s not just for lovers, or secret admirers, it’s also a day to show how much you appreciate friends, family or pets!

Valentine’s Day has its beginnings in religion, with several Saint Valentine’s being put forward. The romantic version of this day started in the Middle Ages (late 14th century) and really took off in the 18th century when flowers, confectionery and cards were given.

Here are some ideas for quick Valentine’s cards:

Quick N Easy Christmas Cards

Christmas is coming! If, like me, you are a bit behind in making your Christmas cards try these.  Six cards made with two sheets of Bazzill and one sheet of patterned paper.

Cut the Bazzill into three pieces each – 10-ish cm by 30cm. This gives you the six base cards. Score at 15cm if you wish (just makes it easier to fold).

Cut out the designs from the paper you wish to use – I chose two large ones and four small ones.  I also used the reverse side of the left-over paper to layer.

To add a bit of sparkle I used Xmas Red Stickles and Gold Liquid Pearls.

I used foam mounts to give some dimension on three of the cards, and hand coloured the words on the ‘Dash’ card. The red border was hand drawn (with the help of a ruler!) on the ‘Twas’ card.

Make it a great day!

Product List:

Cardstock:         Bazzill – Ivy and Pomegranate
Paper:                Graphic 45 Twas The Night Before Christmas – Long Winters Nap
Mixed Media:    Stickles;  Liquid Pearls
Other Items:     Foam Mounts; Tombow Marker

Merry Christmas Santa Variations

The card posted yesterday was only one of several variations so today I thought I would post some other ways of doing this cute little Santa.

Here is another card using the same range of paper:

Once again, texture on Santa has been added by using Texture Paste on Santa’s hat and coat, and Liquid Pearls on his beard.

This photo shows a couple of different ideas for colouring up Santa:

The top Santa uses the same technique as for the card with basic colouring. The Santa tag was coloured with Twinkling H2O’s for a bit of shimmer, Fun Flock was used on the hat and coat and the beard was coloured with the H2O’s.  The bottom Santa uses a basic colouring technique with Fun Flock on the hat and coat and Liquid Pearls on the Beard.

You could also heat emboss the image before colouring to give a bit of dimension as well.

Product List:

Cardstock:         Bazzill
Paper:                Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet
Stamp:               Stampendous
Dies:                   Spellbinders
Mixed Media:    Texture Paste;  Liquid Pearls, Fun Flock
Other Items:     Ribbon

Merry Christmas Santa Card

Wow, where has the year gone? We have been so busy uploading product that we lost track of time and just realised it is a little over five weeks till Christmas. Oh. My. Goodness. So we thought we should start showing off some ideas for Christmas cards.

Are you over the standard Christmas colours of red, green and white? If so, why not try red, green and purple? This card is so pretty with the tag, dies, layering, some texture and a little bit of bling.

The tag is from the beautiful Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet range.  This paper range was inspired by the classic ballet and brings a child-like delight and enchantment to your projects.  A beautiful colour palette of candy cane red, ballet slipper pink, glamorous green, velvety purple and delicate cream. This tag can also be used on layouts or on a present for that special someone 🙂

Texture has been added by using Texture Paste on Santa’s hat and coat (you could also use Fun Flock, True Snow or Liquid Appliqué), and Liquid Pearls on his beard.

Product List:

Cardstock:         Bazzill
Paper:                Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet
Stamp:               Stampendous

Mother’s Day Is Coming

Tags

It will be Mother’s Day here in Australia this Sunday. The wonderfully talented Jenny has created a card you can make just in time.  It is a ‘pull apart’ card which reveals the message. Jenny used Little Yellow Bicycle Vintage Summer paper on the first card, and papers from her stash for the second one.

This photo shows it closed:

and here it is open, using different papers and embellishments to show you how small changes can make a big difference:

Use your imagination and make a beautiful card for your Mum, or a special someone.

Prima Paintables

I created a card for a wonderful friend and decided the Prima Paintables would be just perfect.  I chose one from the ‘Memorandum‘ range. This is it before I altered it:

I used Copic markers to colour the rose and antique the edges. Then I used Copic Spica to add a touch of sparkle. Of course, you could use Tombows or any type of marker.

Finally, I turned it into an easel card:

The photo’s don’t do justice to the finished card but it gives you an idea.

Make it a great day!
